Migraine Attack

Migraine attack
Head throbbing, temple pounding,
Coils twirling, twisting, rounding
Brain fuzzy, bright lights flashing
Overwhelmed by noise and thrashing
Stomach churning, nerves are burning
Tired and irritable, tossing, turning
Stress and strain, too much pain
Heart rate racing, body pacing
Worn out, torn out - I need time out!
Shut out the light, switch off the sound
Take a pill and try to chill
Coldpack draped across temple brow
Less throbbing and blobbing, it’s better now
Lavender scent burning, no more churning
Breathe in slowly, calmly, rhythmically
Mind uncoiling, slowly releasing
Finally the drumming pain is ceasing
Thoughts and strains are crushed and hushed
Fatigued I allow myself to drift
What was I thinking, I must be thick
Tomorrow I will just take a day off sick.

You have described a migraine perfectly. I had migraines until recently. My doctor started me on a maintainance drug to help and boy am I glad he did. They became a whole lot less frequent. What a relief.
